Phoebe Waller Bridge has revealed that she never originally planned to make a second series of Fleabag, which doesn’t bear thinking about.creator appeared on the Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon where she confessed that a two series run of Fleabag was never initially on the table.

‘The first season had a proper ending in my mind and it was based on a play and it was adapted to the same ending,’ she told Jimmy, referencing the one-woman play which‘Fleabag talks to the camera a lot in the first season and by the end she stops talking to the camera… I thought, “unless I can re-invent a reason for why she talks to the camera again, I can’t see how I can justify coming back.

As the love interest in the second series, the Sherlock actor joined Fleabag in breaking the fourth wall, acknowledging her looks to camera for the first time.
