An events photographer who bought cocaine in bulk to share with his friends has narrowly avoided a jail sentence.

Ms Lister said he had 12 previous convictions for 20 offences including four for drugs. There were two counts of possession with intent to supply class A drugs and possession of cannabis and possession of cocaine on his record.

Mitigating, Catherine Silverton, told the court Ali had been out of trouble for a decade, and for the two years since police discovered the drugs at his home. She added: "He just tipped the balance of supplying by buying in bulk and has taken all measures he can to stop that."
