The United States Air Force recently shared photos of the B-21 Raider stealth bomber undergoing test flights.The Raider is set to become the 'backbone of the U.S. Air Force bomber fleet,' the USAF has said multiple times since its official unveiling in December 2022. It is classed as a strategic bomber, which is part of the country's nuclear triad—a three-pronged structure set up to provide nuclear deterrence.
B-2s were first rolled out in 1989 and are classed as a 'multi-role heavy bomber' that can carry conventional or nuclear weapons.B-1s had their nuclear capabilities removed in 1994 but were still considered heavy bombers able to carry nuclear weapons until 2007.Last year, the House of Representatives approved a measure to boost nuclear spending for present and future stockpiles, defense and energy security and uranium enrichment.
