Wirral Council has put out new images which could see a historic square, a waterfront with 'one of the best views in the world' and a high street undergo some major changes. The local authority is asking for opinions again on its latest plans for Woodside, Hamilton Square and Argyle Street. The new plans could see new trees, cycle routes, improved paving, a new plaza and event space, as well as a waterfront children's play area.

The area will see a vastly improved street scene and upgraded public realm, new planting, upgraded bus facilities and dedicated infrastructure for walking, wheeling and cycling.” New street lighting could be installed to improve safety and make the area's night-time economy more appealing. The local authority said the plans were about 'making Birkenhead a more attractive and welcoming space for visitors and residents alike, contributing to re-establishing Birkenhead as a destination.
