Captain Tom is absolutely smashing it and has raised over £400,000 🤯
Captain Tom Moore, who served in World War II, wants to raise £500,000 for the NHS who have been helping him, by walking 100 lengths of his back garden in time for his 100th birthday at the end of the month.
Inspired by his work, Piers and Susanna were clearly emotional by Captain Tom, who praised NHS nurses for keeping smiling when they ‘don’t know what they’re facing at work every morning’ and declared all NHS workers brave.At the end of the chat, Piers said: ‘What a pleasure to talk to you – an honour. Thank you for serving your country. I’m so glad that we were able through the brilliant NHS to serve you back.’‘I know that you’re now doing this walk for the NHS.
‘Let’s get you over the half a million,’ Piers declared. ‘So you’ve got £10,000 from me. Good luck to you.’So far, the campaign has helped raise more than £395,000 thanks to those inspired by Captain Tom’s efforts – and Piers’s donation has sparked several thousands of pounds worth of donations in the time since his appearance on GMB.
As one person gave £50 to the efforts, they wrote: ‘Fantastic people doing a fantastic job. We’re in debt to you all. Good luck Captain Tom Moore, WHAT A BLOKE!!’
