Pike Road is in the process of adding two new roundabouts to ease traffic problems.
PIKE ROAD, Ala. - Pike Road is one of the fastest growing towns in Alabama. While that may be good for the economy, the rapid rise in population creates problems for drivers.
“We’ve actually started this process years ago,” said Alabama Department of Transportation spokeswoman Brantley Kirk. “We even had a public meeting back in the fall of 2020, so this has always been in the process.” “If you do two roundabouts, you’ll be able to relieve the traffic congestion on Marler Road, you’ll be able to help the traffic flow up and down Highway 80, you can slow some of that 80 convergence onto 85 down, and just create a more seamless process,” Stone said.
