If you’re an anxious traveller, you might have noticed a ‘ding’ sound, which, unless you’re cabin crew or a pilot, can feel unsettling.
It’s good news for anxious flyers If you’re a nervous flyer, those unexplained beeps and dings on board a plane can send your heart rate sky high. But thankfully, a pilot has shared his secrets – and those unexplained noises don’t mean you need to get into the brace position. In fact, they’re simply a normal part of aircraft operations. Captain Steve Scheibner, who flies for American Airlines, took to TikTok, saying there is in fact a ‘purpose behind that ding.
Shortly after that, when the aircraft is about to take-off, he will give the flight attendants another ding as a final warning to take their seat. The next time the ding will sound, is as they’re climbing through ten thousand feet. Steve explained: ‘I reach up and… give them another ding to let them know it’s safe to get up out of their seat and start their service.’ Now you know, just sit back and relax Then one final ding is to alert the flight attendants to prepare for landing.
