The Malaysia-exclusive Jimny Rhino makes its way to the Philippines
After making its debut in Malaysia back in June 2023, the special-edition Suzuki Jimny Rhino has made its way to the 2024 Philippine International Motor Show .
A white five-door Jimny in Rhino-themed decals shared the floor with a beige three-door, but there are a few key differences from the Rhino that was showcased in Malaysia.PIMS 2024: MG previews new HS PHEVAll remains standard under the hood, with the typical 1.5-liter K15B engine producing 104hp and 134Nm of torque with the automatic transmission. But there are differences in the little details, and in one very big detail.
What is definitely missed in these local Rhinos is that Suzuki Heritage Grille. The Rhinos on the show floor have a chrome-plated grille with the Suzuki logo, found in a variant of the local Jimny. While it does not stand out as much as the heritage grille, the chrome finish gives a more premium impression to the tiny off-roader. At least the front bumper skid plate made it to PIMS 2024.
Looking above the grille, there are a few decals missing on the hood of the car compared to the Malaysian version. The decals on the side of the hood and on the doors are present, and thankfully the little Rhino badge on the back made it. That is where the similarities end. There are no red mudflaps, and no skid plates on the rear of the car either.
Suzuki will be bringing the Rhino to the Philippine market soon, but we're still holding out hope for a Philippine-edition Jimny. Maybe a Jimny Eagle perhaps? Jimny Tarsier?
