Using the Pinkenba quarantine centre might aid some people but it falls well short of the needs of Brisbane’s homeless, one of the state’s main housing bodies says.
The head of one of the state’s leading agencies for tackling homelessness says using the federal government’s Pinkenba quarantine centre is not the answer to homelessness in Brisbane.
“The tragedy of that facility is that it was designed to be multipurpose. When it was built, it was built for a specific purpose and that was quarantine.” Schrinner has offered new bus services and libraries and said agencies had to choose “appropriate people” to use Pinkenba.
