Changes to circumstances could have a signifacnt effect on your PIP claim
Millions of people who claim Personal Independence Payment could be at risk of being taken to court if they fail to provide important information.
PIP is a benefit currently claimed by around 2.8 million people across the country. Payments from the benefit are intended to help with extra living costs for those who are unable to perform everyday tasks due to a long-term physical or mental condition or disability. However, if you currently claim PIP and have experienced a change in your circumstances, you must inform the PIP enquiry line. The government warns that not doing so could result in you being taken to court or paying a penalty.Read more: DWP cost of living payments and support - three dates before Christmas to be aware ofYou may also be required to repay some cash if you did not report a change straight away, provided incorrect information, or were overpaid on your claim by mistake.
This will help with a DWP assessment and can also back up your claim later down the line if there are any queries. You can contact the PIP enquiry line by dialling 0800 121 4433 with lines being open Monday to Friday from 9am to 5pm.
