Transport group Pagkakaisa ng mga Samahan ng Tsuper at Operator Nationwide (Piston) will stage a mass protest on March 15, 2022, when fuel prices are again expected to increase.
In a statement, Piston called for the control on the prices of fuel and commodities, removal of the oil deregulation law and excise tax on oil, as well as for an increase in the minimum wage.
“At sa mismong araw ng pagtaas ulit ng presyo ng gasolina, magsama-sama tayo sa España at sa iba't-ibang terminal, komunidad, at mga gasolinahan para isang malawakang protestang bayan laban sa panibagong big-time oil price hike,” the group said. Organizers clarified that there was no need to declare a transport strike since the high price of fuel was enough for drivers and operators to stop operations because they cannot afford it.
