The Pistons are set to hire their next head coach.
The Detroit Pistons have finally settled on a new head coach, just before the start of free agency. The Pistons are set to hire former Cleveland Cavaliers head coach J.B. Bickerstaff to take over the franchise. Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN was the first to break the news of this signing.Detroit finished the season with the worst record in the NBA at 14-68, culminating with a frustrating year.
Cleveland finished last season with a record of 48-34 and made the second round of the playoffs, but injuries took hold of them down the stretch of the year and into the postseason. If Bickerstaff is going to be successful in Detroit, he will need to find a way to connect with the younger players. Cade Cunningham, Jaden Ivey, and Ausar Thompson are the core in place with the team so he will need to establish a relationship with them.
