The Pittsburgh Steelers have made their first round of cuts as they dwindle the roster down to 53 players.
Nick Farabaugh | [email protected] Tuesday at 4 p.m. Among the cuts was former Georgia running back Daijun Edwards, who struggled to get consistent playing time throughout training camp. Edwards signed with the Steelers as an undrafted free agent with plenty of experience at Georgia but could never parlay that into consistent opportunities behind La’Mical Perine and Jonathan Ward.
Cutting someone this early usually signals that they will not be brought back on the practice squad, though any of those players listed above could circle back. Players like Thomas and Tezino, so their spots on the practice squad could come in time as others are released and the Steelers scan the market.
