Almost 100 new plots of land are to be created across Glasgow as part of a council strategy to increase the number of allotments and community…
A total of 99 additional plots are to be created at Greyfriars, Yoker, Sighthill, Centurion Way and Baillieston Demonstration Garden and will be included within 14 new projects funded by the Lets Grow Together fund.
The city council, which has been working to ensure that all communities can access, enjoy and celebrate growing spaces within Glasgow, will ensure that funding of £56,000 will be distributed among local groups. Funds are designed to help support these spaces and encourage Glasgow citizens to become involved and grow their fruit and vegetables locally.
Questions on the programme were asked at yesterday’s operational performance and delivery scrutiny committee meeting.“Is the 14 projects 14 plots? I am trying to get my head around how many numbers we are talking about. “How much money did we actually get awarded and is the £56,000 spent from that. Does that leave an amount of money to do the 99 additional plots.
“The funding will be in relation to those projects so won’t be different.
