A Jet2 plane was forced to abort takeoff at Manchester Airport after experiencing an 'air speed indication issue'. The incident caused another plane to delay landing. Passengers on social media shared their experiences of flight delays and cancellations due to fog at Gatwick Airport.
This is the dramatic moment a plane suddenly slammed on the brakes while speeding down a runway for takeoff. The Jet 2 craft braked hard after a full throttle, throwing up clouds of dust. But the plane seemed to come to a rest safely on the tarmac. The incident apparently forced another plane to loop around and delay landing. There was said to be an 'air speed indication issue' where there were false readings on the pilot's display.
The incident happened at just before 3pm at Manchester Airport today. According to the person who filmed the shocking video, the plane took off again five hours later. Commenting on the footage, one person said: 'Excellent control that was...' Another said: 'Happened to us twice in July, a broken sensor on the plane. 'We were almost in the air when they slammed on. Eight hours delay waiting for new plane and crew. Was pretty scary at the time.' It comes after flights departing from Gatwick last Friday were delayed by up to three hours because of the fog. And about half a dozen services set to leave Manchester Airport on Friday evening were cancelled. One person wrote on X: 'Returning home from a Christmas cruise with @pandocruises. Stuck at Tenerife Airport due to the severe fog at @Gatwick_Airport. 'Flight delayed indefinitely. Lots of angry passengers but safety has to come first. The weather must be bad in #Sussex! Wonder when I'll get home!' Another said: 'Why are all the flights from @Gatwick_Airport suddenly delayed? Our flight to #ZRH delayed by an hour. Many delayed 3hr
