Motorways and major roads in Lancashire and Cumbria will experience disruptions due to planned roadworks. Speed limit changes, alterations to road markings, and installation of average speed cameras are among the works being carried out. Drivers should expect longer travel times.
With half term now over, motorways and major roads are set to be much as people return to work and head out on the school run.
New signs and road marking will be installed, as well as a new footpath to connect the communities around Witherslack to the BP petrol station, also known as Greystones. Some of the work has already been completed as it began in mid-September.During the final two weeks of our improvement works National Highways will remove the contraflow traffic measures and reopen the eastbound carriageway.
The work involves resurfacing and replacing road markings and road studs. Surfacing will take place Sunday to Thursday, with work on road markings to be carried out on Friday night. Overnight work is happening when traffic volumes are lower, between 8pm and 6am.
