Plans for a slurry lagoon at a farm near Montgomery will be decided by councillors.

Powys County Council’s Planning committee meets on Thursday, June 29 and will consider an application by Cllr Adrian Jones for a slurry lagoon at Pied House in Garthmyl.

Changes to farming legislation in Wales known as “The Water Resources -Control of Agricultural Pollution Regulations 2021” says that farms need to have somewhere to store slurry for five months. “The development will be screened by the trees, hedgerows and surrounding farmland and due to its elevated position, it will not be easily visible from most public vantage points.A potential snag for the application is that it is only 330 metres from popular wedding venue Garthmyl Hall and its historic park and gardens.
