A large retirement living complex is proposed for a former launderette site in Daybrook. The project includes 51 self-contained apartments for people aged 60 and over, with facilities such as a communal lounge and a mobility scooter store. The complex aims to provide independent living for disabled individuals. The development will also feature a house manager and an alarm call system. Access to the site will be improved with a new car park. The project aims to address the shortage of retirement housing in the area.
Plans have been submitted for a large retirement living complex at the site of a former launderette in Daybrook. If approved, it will be located on vacant brownfield land behind the Premier Inn on Mansfield Road.
The complex will be designed to accommodate disabled people throughout, while letting them live independently. There will also be a house manager and an alarm call system.Access to the site will be from Sir John Robinson Way, with a new 18-space car park created. Developer McCarthy Stone says there is an acute shortage of retirement housing in the area which this will help to meet.
