A plant specialist has divulged how to preserve poinsettias so they stay robust and vivid for many a festive season. These iconic red blooms are synonymous with yuletide joy, but they necessitate specific care to retain their splendour.
She also warns about the risks of temperature variation, noting: "Temperature fluctuations can be harmful to most plants, so avoid placing poinsettias near artificial heat sources like radiators or fireplaces. It's equally important to keep them away from cold drafts. A minimum temperature of around 13°C is ideal. Poinsettias also thrive in bright, indirect light."
For those looking to maintain their poinsettia beyond the holiday decorations, Elise suggests year-long care tips: "If you're planning to keep your poinsettia long-term—and you should—it's essential to fertilize it monthly with a balanced household fertiliser."
