British man 'PlugwalkJoe' has pleaded guilty for the mass 2020 Twitter attack, which saw more than 130 accounts of high-profile figures including Joe Biden, Elon Musk and Kanye West compromised.
The United States Justice Department revealed 23-year-old Joseph James O’Connor, who operated under the username PlugwalkJoe, entered the plea in New York after being extradited from Spain on April 26 – two years after being arrested.
While court documents referred to the TikTok accounts belonging to victim one and victim two, the US media have identified them to be Addison Rae and Bella Thorne. “Like many criminal actors, O’Connor tried to stay anonymous by using a computer to hide behind stealth accounts and aliases from outside the United States.”
