Only a stray shower or storm chance Sunday, when humidity may briefly dip.

Showers and storms that are favoring the southern half of the region should slowly move east — and toward the Atlantic — with time this evening. High temperatures near and above 90 are back tomorrow, but we may see a slight break in afternoon humidity as heat returns.

Stray showers or a storm may linger into the night, especially east and southeast of town. We may see some stars briefly, but there’s not much time between clouds trying to clear and patchy fog developing nearer dawn. Mid-60s to low 70s are as cool as we get, with humidity remaining fairly high, though not oppressive.Sunshine levels are a bit uncertain, but it should be brighter than not, especially given that we only have about a 10 percent chance of a stray shower or storm.

The best chance for severe storms may be Tuesday and Wednesday. Timing and details aren’t a certainty, but we can be cautiously optimistic that welcome rain chances are around this coming week. We have reason to hope that largely nonsevere storms can cool us off and bring us water.
