THE Philippine National Police (PNP) has announced the deployment of 77,000 of its men nationwide for the upcoming Holy Week to ensure the safety and security of the public.
Of the number, 38,387 will be on mobile and foot/beat patrol while an additional 39,504 will be deployed to major thoroughfares, transportation hubs, terminals, commercial areas and churches. In Metro Manila, 9,585 police will be deployed.'These 77,000 police officers are in their designated areas now,' PCol. Jean Fajardo, PNP spokesman said in a public briefing on Tuesday.
Fajardo also reminded commuters to arrive early in terminals and to secure valuables and personal belongings amid the expected influx of passengers.'As much as possible, avoid bringing big luggage and [a] huge amount of money as we expect crowded terminals, especially tomorrow,' Fajardo added.The PNP has also reminded travelers who would be out on vacation to ensure that their houses are locked and avoid posting plans on social media.
