Dismissed Police Master Sergeant Rodolfo Mayo Jr., arrested over the P6.7-billion drug haul, has been transferred to the Metro Manila District Jail as early as December 9, 2022, the Philippine National Police (PNP) said Wednesday.
According to PNP spokesperson Police Colonel Jean Fajardo, the custody of Mayo was transferred from the PNP to the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology in accordance with a court order.
"He was temporarily detained at the PNP Custodial Center, Camp Crame, Quezon City before he was transferred at the Metro Manila District Jail, Camp Bagong Diwa, Taguig City last December 9,2022 pursuant to a Court Order,” Fajardo told GMA News Online.over three counts of grave misconduct and conduct unbecoming of a police officer.Mayo served as intelligence officer for the PNP Drug Enforcement Group, based on police records.
Interior Secretary Benhur Abalos recently called on 10 cops to take a leave of absence over their possible link to the alleged cover-up of Mayo’s arrest. PNP chief Police General Rodolfo Azurin Jr. said there was no attempt to delay the investigation into Mayo’s supposed involvement in the illegal drug operations as he called for due process for the cops in question.
