The Opposition has been accused of hypocrisy after it made a series of demands to the government in the wake of the Commonwealth Games debacle.

Mr Dutton said it was “counter-productive” for the codes to advocate a position on the voice, and there should be a clear demarcation between sport and politics. Former prime minister John Howard has also raised concerns about the number of sporting bodies taking public positions on contentious political issues.
Mr Andrews said the 2026 event, which was planned for Geelong, Bendigo, Shepparton, Ballarat and Gippsland, was now estimated to cost $6 to $7 billion instead of the $2.6 billion budgeted.
