Motorists have reacted with scorn to the news that a speed limit on a major Manchester motorway has been lifted.
However, a new report written by the Greater Manchester Combined Authority says ‘in July, National Highways also advised Transport for Greater Manchester that the temporary speed limit on the M602 junctions 1 to 3 Eccles is to be removed’. Others posited that the speed limit should be higher in general. “Cars are many times safer than they were when 70mph was decided on,” wrote Matt Saywell. “Better to increase to 85/90 – less standing around, less emissions,” agreed Wayne Richards.
“They will no doubt be promoted to some new meddling, pointless, authoritarian nonsense role,” replied Chris Jones.
