Anchorage police arrested a man in connection to a fatal hit-and-run that led to a short road closure Monday night.

According to the Anchorage Police Department, 40-year-old Larry Anderson Jr. was arrested near where authorities believe he struck and killed a woman while behind the wheel of a Dodge Charger. Anderson had been found at a ”nearby location.” Police say the collision occurred shortly after 6 p.m. on A Street, south of 16th Avenue beside the Mulcahy Stadium. The pedestrian was not in a crosswalk and was declared dead at the scene.
Neon green barriers and officers were in the street blocking traffic and taking pictures of the scene. Debris was on the road. Police closed northbound A Street between Fireweed Lane and 16th Avenue for multiple hours as the Major Collision Investigation Unit investigated.
