Two stones were vandalised
Officers attended Scotforth Cemetery after two gravestones were vandalised in black paint. The force have stated the two in question were Muslim headstones and had been painted with a Star of David.
This was sprayed in black over the top of the black gravestones. The Star of David is recognised as a symbol that represents Judaism and the Jewish identity.Lancashire Police are appealing for any witnesses or information in regards to the vandalism. If you do have any information, contact them on 101, quoting log 0596 of February 26, 2023.
A spokesperson for Lancashire Constabulary said: "We were called to Scotforth Cemetery, Lancaster, to reports of criminal damage to gravestones. Two Muslim gravestones had been vandalised with a Star of David in black spray paint. We are appealing for witnesses/information."
