A body has been found in a desperate search for a missing hillwalker who failed to return home from an Easter Monday hike.
Ivan Meyer, from Edinburgh , was reported missing by his worried family after he set off on a walking trip in Crianlarich on Monday, April 1.He is believed to have arrived at the foot of the mountains from the A82, south of Crianlarich , to make an ascent on An Caisteal and Beinn a’ Chroin.Yesterday, Police Scotland confirmed: “At around 11.30am on Wednesday, April 3, the body of a man was found near Beinn a’ Chroin.
Formal identification is yet to take place, but the force said Mr Meyer’s family had been made aware.Click here for more news and sport from the Stirling area. Speaking after Mr Meyer failed to return home, Inspector David Marr, from Stirling Police Station, said: “Ivan has not been in touch with friends or family for the past day and this is extremely out-of-character for him.“We are carrying out extensive searches in the area, with the assistance of partner agencies, and are asking for anyone with information on Ivan’s whereabouts, or any possible sightings, to please come forward.
Police were assisted in their search for Mr Meyer by Killin Mountain Rescue Team, Tayside Mountain Rescue Team, Oban Mountain Rescue Team, Search and Rescue Dog Association and SARDA Southern Scotland. The Search and Rescue Dog Association deployed search dogs Barra, Freddie, Mac and Sgiath to assist with theIt’s understood that Mr Meyer was scheduled to return home on Tuesday – having set off equipped for the terrain, including wearing hiking clothing and he was also known to be in possession of a backpack, one-man tent and hiking poles.
