A former Scotland Yard Superintendent has called for an independent inquiry to be held into Lancashire Police’s handling of the Nicola Bulley case after a body was found close to where she disappeared Joe Duggan reports:

No formal identification has yet taken place.Last night, Ms Bulley’s partner, Paul Ansell, spoke of his “agony” at the discovery. “No words right now, just agony,” he told Sky News. “We’re all together, we have to be strong.”over its decision to release personal health information relating to Ms Bulley, with focus now sharpening on why it took more than three weeks to locate a body during its investigation.
“They didn’t share that information about the vulnerabilities with this specialist search team that they brought in, and yet they shared that information with the wider public. She also questioned Lancashire Police’s handling of commentary on social media around the case, which has attractedPolice forces around the country would “have to accept” there would be speculation on social media around cases such as Ms Bulley’s, she added.
“The social media companies have really got a look at what they’ve done where they’ve allowed TikTokers to livestream, absolute rubbish, with no thought to how it’s impacting the family,” he said.
