The police “have blood on their hands” after missing chances to stop Wayne Couzens from kidnapping, raping and murdering Sarah Everard while he was a serving police officer, a leading anti-rape group (AgainstRape) has said
: “The police have blood on their hands. They are responsible for letting men like him and Carrick carry on and their crimes get more and more serious as time goes on.
Ms Longstaff said police need to start treating cases of sexual violence against women as a number one priority. Jamie Klingler, co-founder of Reclaim These Streets, has called for measures to be implemented so that when offenders are police officers they can be quickly identified as such. Ms Longstaff also said she believed Ms Everard’s murder by Couzens was entirely preventable and called for officers to be held to a higher standard.
