A bus driver is part of a police investigation in Queensland after half a dozen children were taken to hospital feeling sick from ingesting an 'unknown substance' on a school bus.

The incident happened on Thursday morning involving students from Bluewater Sate School in Townsville.

Half a dozen kids were taken to Townsville Hospital experiencing symptoms like nausea, the spokeswoman added. It is understood about 15 students travelling to Bluewater State School became ill after eating lollies shared on the school bus, the Courier-Mail reported.
