Cell phone video posted by The Cincinnati F.O.P. shows the moments a massive crowd gathered at The Banks.
CINCINNATI - Cincinnati Police are investigating after hundreds of kids showed up at The Banks on Easter Sunday leading to several fights.When the police arrived they found over 300 kids gathered here and they said social media is to blame.
Two people can be seen fighting in the middle of the road with many more recording it on their phones.“Without a doubt that played a part in this, and it’s played a part in so many others where kids are able to quickly communicate and gather,” said retired Cincinnati Police Officer Dan Hils.
Police said it took officers close to an hour to break up the group. No one was hurt and there were a handful of arrests. “It’s a thing where you’re trying to herd the kids and get them to move on, but in the meantime, you’re wondering how violent could things get,” said Hils.Since two violent attacks around Fountain and Government Squares, Iris Roley and youth outreach groups across Cincinnati have focused their work Downtown.
“It’s extremely important to help and love on and teach young people who don’t have that structure,” said Roley.Roley said they're going to continue those efforts Downtown while looking for more long-term solutions to cut down on the violence.Detectives are continuing to go over security camera footage and cell phone video see if anyone else involved will be charged.
