Gomez said Norwich students were conducting outside training drills on Wednesday when Bermudez collapsed. Northfield Ambulance Service responded around 6:30 p.m. and provided advanced life-saving care on scene before transporting Bermudez by ambulance to Central Vermont Medical Center, where he died shortly after 8 p.m.
Norwich University President John Broadmeadow confirmed Bermudez's death in a statement to the school community on Thursday.
