Officers are asking for witnesses to come forward
Police are appealing for information and video footage from witnesses after a 60-year-old woman fell of a motorway bridge and died.
After the incident on Friday, both sides of the motorway were closed off while emergency crews responded. The carriageway was shut for more than 12 hours before being reopened at around 10.30am on Saturday morning . An investigation into how the woman came to be on the bridge is ongoing. Cheshire Police is now appealing to anyone who was on this part of the M56 between 8.15pm and 8.30pm on the night and may have witnessed the incident, or has any dashcam footage, to come forward.
Sergeant Simon Degg, of the Constabulary's Roads and Crime Unit, said: "Our enquiries into how the pedestrian came to be on the A49 overbridge remain ongoing, and we are asking any motorists who were travelling on the M56 between junction 10 and 11 for Warrington and may have witnessed the incident, or captured it on dashcam, to please get in touch.
