Police investigating the disappearance of missing mother Nicola Bulley have been forced to make use of a dispersal order to discourage amateur sleuths from anti-social behaviour.

Police have already told people not to enter properties they may believe to be abandoned as it could constitute burglary or criminal damage. Giles Phillips, chair of the local parish council, said the village, which has a population of around 700 people, “doesn’t have the resources for the number of people tipping up”.

Last night, one of Ms Bulley’s friends Heather Gibbons said: “We are at the point where people coming to ‘help’ look for Nikki in this way is actually doing the complete opposite.
