Nottinghamshire Police have issued a 30-hour dispersal order in Sneinton and Colwick to address the issue of car cruising and street racing, which has been causing alarm and distress to nearby residents. The order grants police the power to disperse individuals and prevent crime and disorder.
Police have issued a 30-hour dispersal order for a part of Nottingham after reports of car cruising and street racing . The order, which comes into force at 7pm on Saturday, April 13, will cover areas of Sneinton and Colwick, stretching along Daleside Road from Meadow Lane to Byron Close.
Nottinghamshire Police said it will also include gatherings at East Point Retail Park. Inspector Steve Dalby, neighbourhood policing inspector for Nottingham South, said the cruising and racing was causing nearby residents "alarm and distress". “Over the last few months we have received an increase in calls from concerned local residents and members of the public," he said. “We have listened to their concerns and we will be making use of these dispersal powers to prevent, deter, and reduce any disorder and to move people on if they are causing any issues.
Failing to comply with an order, which banishes them from the area for up to 48 hours, is a criminal offence.
