Paul Ledwith was a trusted police officer, but he sexually assaulted two women while on a night out in Liverpool
A former Merseyside Police officer who drunkenly groped two women on a night out in Liverpool city centre has been spared jail. Paul Ledwith, 49, sexually assaulted the women on July 31 and August 1 2020, when he had been under investigation at work for inappropriate behaviour. Ledwith, of Wisteria Way in St Helens , was a 20-year veteran of the force, responsible for training new officers.
Earlier this year, The Angiolini report also made additional recommendations for police forces to ensure we take all possible measures to root out such people, including vetting, disciplinary and dismissal procedures. Officers and staff can report concerns directly, or anonymously via our internal reporting system, Call It Out and our Professional Standards Department take all such reports extremely seriously.
