He was seen to fall to the ground, while shouts of 'put it down' could be heard. The man went on to be arrested on suspicion of possession of an offensive weapon.said the man was bailed pending further enquiries.
The force previously said the detainment unfolded 'in line with specialist training'. Detective Chief Superintendent Neil Jones, of GMP, said: “Public safety remains our absolute priority. incident demonstrates both the effectiveness of rapid public reporting and the professionalism of our officers in responding to a potentially dangerous situation.
"The deployment of the Taser 10 - the first incident where we have used the new technology - provided officers with a critical less-lethal option to resolve the incident safely and proportionately. GMP continues to invest in training and the latest technology to ensure officers are equipped to respond to emerging threats while maintaining the highest standards of accountability and public trust.
