The Suffolk officer was told she would have been sacked for the offence had she not already resigned
A police officer travelled more than 100 miles across the country to watch a comedy show in Nottingham while on duty, a misconduct hearing was told. PC Sharon Taylor logged onto work for three minutes at Suffolk Constabulary's HQ in Ipswich before driving to the gig, the panel heard.
However, Michael McIntyre was performing at the Motorpoint Arena on Sunday, March 10, the day she travelled there. She was caught after suspicious colleagues noticed her car was recorded on number plate recognition cameras travelling back from the Midlands to Norfolk.Taylor resigned from her job before she could be hauled before police chiefs at a misconduct hearing this week.
The panel was told Taylor had performed internet searches about a "comedian in Nottingham" and "parking in Nottingham" in the days before. Taylor, who it was said showed a "lack of integrity", also attempted to claim payment for working anti-social hours as a way of making it look like she had worked.
Assistant Chief Constable Nick Davison said: "I consider she deliberately set out, on the dates in question, to appear to be working when in fact she was not. I have determined a final written warning would not have been appropriate due to the serious nature of the misconduct.
