Independent Office for Police Conduct says the Greater Manchester Police officer is being investigated for assault
A police officer has been placed under criminal investigation after a man was kicked in the head at Manchester Airport.
The same officer also faces disciplinary action over alleged gross misconduct after the 19-year-old was filmed being kicked while lying on the ground in an incident at the airport’s Terminal 2 on Tuesday night. The video clip, which has been shared widely on social media, appears to show a firearms officer kicking a man and stamping on his head while he is lying face down on the ground.
Paul Waugh, the Labour MP for Rochdale, met the family last night and said they had called for calm following protests in the town as well as Manchester city centre.on Friday: “It’s clear from talking to them that they are traumatised. Lots of people saw that video clip and they are distressed by it.
