A former police officer has been jailed after stopping an assault investigation against a sex worker he slept with.
Watch more of our videos on ShotsTV.comNicholas Peacock, 40, who was a career police officer, was sentenced at Shrewsbury Crown Court after previously admitting one charge of misconduct in a public office.
Mr Oscroft said Peacock, of Victoria Road, Market Drayton, then proceeded to close the investigation - saying there were no witnesses and no CCTV of the attack. His partner said that Peacock had been away from the car for about ten to 15 minutes, from 9.55am to 10.10am - with Peacock's radio signal traced to the woman's home.
In an interview with police Peacock said he was 'stupidly playing along with her and nothing had happened'.Mr Oscroft said Peacock was responsible for 'engaging in a sexual relationship with a suspect' and 'dishonestly closing an investigation'. Mr Volz also spoke of the impact of an assault on Peacock while he was on duty in late 2021, which he says left the former officer with post traumatic distress disorder.
