A police officer killed in a “freak accident” at his engagement party was set to welcome a child, his grieving fiancee has revealed. Liam Trimmer, 29, was critically injured after cutting his neck during a fall at his Fremantle home on Sunday evening. The tragedy unfolded as Trimmer, an off-duty senior constable, and his partner Lilly Watts celebrated their impending nuptials and shortly after they told friends and family that Watts was three months pregnant.
“Liam was truly so excited to be a dad. I have never known a love like Liam’s and this heartbreak and emptiness is just so overwhelming,” Watts said on Wednesday. “He will always be the love of my life and our baby will know the wonderful man he was.” A GoFundMe campaign has been launched to support the dedicated clinical nurse as she prepares to raise a child without her “soulmate”. “While no amount of money can bring back Liam or erase the pain of his loss, we hope to ease the burden that now weighs heavily on Lilly’s shoulder,” Watts’ friend Melinda Kelly sai
