Rochester, N.Y. — A parolee faces charges after police said he shot another man during a carjacking on the city's north side.
Police reported finding a loaded .45-caliber handgun when they arrested Jose Colon, 22, in Henrietta after he allegedly shot a man on North Clinton Avenue in Rochester late Thursday, May 30, 2024. Officers responded to North Clinton Avenue for a report of a man shot shortly before 11:40 p.m. Thursday and found a man in his 20s with a gunshot wound. He was taken to Strong Memorial Hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.Police found the vehicle in Henrietta and caught the suspect when he tried to leave in it. They also found a loaded handgun.
Jose Colon, 22, is charged with first- and second-degree robbery, second-degree assault, and second- and third-degree criminal possession of a weapon. Colon is prohibited from possessing guns in New York state due to multiple past convictions, including one for a 2020 shooting for which he was on parole. He was taken to Monroe County Jail.
