Seven fire appliances attended the blaze at Nithbank Hospital in Dumfries, working through the night to extinguish the flames.
Police are treating a fire at a derelict hospital as "wilful" while emergency services work to determine the cause of the blaze.
The fire service sent seven appliances to tackle the flames, with the blaze said to be "well-developed" on the ground floor of the abandoned building. The final crew left the scene in the early hours of Thursday morning after the fire was extinguished. A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Around 5.35pm on Wednesday October 9 2024 we were called to a report of a fire at the derelict Nithbank Hospital, Dumfries. Enquiries are continuing into the cause of the fire which is currently being treated as wilful."
