Police vans and mounted officers have moved into position in Oxford Street - after a TikTok video urging criminals to target the area went viral.
An officer in the video says: ‘Some people might be aware that there are plans for antisocial behaviour to happen here on Oxford Street.
London Mayor Sadiq Khan has also urged anyone considering targeting Oxford Street not to get ‘sucked in’ by social media ‘nonsense’. ‘The police understand why some people may be tempted to go to that part of London because of the TikTok. ‘It won’t be because the police work incredibly hard with the local community, with the retailers in that part of London, and with those citizens who want to have a good day out on Oxford Street tomorrow rather than being worried about that sort of nonsense.’
