Police say they have recovered a body in the search for a missing 15-year-old boy last seen near the River Trent. Lincolnshire Police announced the tragic news on Friday afternoon, May 26.
Police remain at the scene and say they have begun the "difficult process" of removing the body - no formal identification has yet been carried out. There had been huge support from the local community, which included search parties organised by local residents, who had been walking along the footpaths on the river banks.A specialist underwater search team had also been carrying out work at the scene.
"Today [May 26], that has included a specially-trained underwater search team and officers searching the banks. We are saddened to report that this afternoon, we have recovered a body around 300m from the Flood Road bridge.
