The driver gave police such a bizarre excuse
A driver has been reported after being caught travelling at a racetrack speed of 115mph in a 50mph roadwork zone on the M55 eastbound earlier this morning . Their BMW M340i has been seized under section 59.
When stopped and quizzed by police as to why they were driving over tripple the speed limit the driver had a bizarre excuse prepared. They claimed that their excessive speed was acceptable due to the incident taking place in the early morning hours and the roads being quiet. Lancashire Road Police confirmed they had reported the speedy motorist earlier this morning on social media. The tweet's caption reads: "This BMW M340i sighted east bound on the M55 being driven at 115mph in the 50mph roadworks. Driver thought that speed was ok due to the time of day and the roads being quiet.
