Officials say police in two different cities in western Washington state shot people over the weekend. The Vancouver Police Department says one of their officers shot and killed a man Saturday while responding to a call about a dog that had bitten a person.

VANCOUVER , Wash. — Police in two different cities in western Washington state shot two people over the weekend, officials said.

A 911 caller reported a man was allowing his German shepherd to run loose near the Columbia River waterfront and that it had bitten at least one person.
