Police said a driver is in custody in Fraser after going at least 100 mph and then trying to elude officers.
At about 9:39 p.m. on April 15, police saw a black Volkswagen Golf going more than 100 mph on Highway 40, according to the Fraser Winter Park Police Department. The officer who spotted the vehicle tried to stop the driver near Telemark Drive. The driver continued on westbound Telemark and then into the Grand Park Subdivision, according to police.
Police followed the vehicle into the back parking lot of the Grand Park Recreation Center. When the driver, a 20-year-old man, attempted to make a U-turn, he lost control and hit an officer's car, according to police.The driver was treated for minor injuries and booked into the Grand County Jail on vehicular eluding, reckless driving, and reckless endangerment charges, according to police.
The Colorado State Patrol investigated the crash.
