Youths left behind an egg container
Police in Newark are warning people not to participate in "mindless behaviour" after they received multiple reports of eggs being thrown at people, houses and vehicles. On Sunday, October 30, officers warned the public about the behaviour in a Facebook post and urged youths to think again about their behaviour.
The post stated: "We have received multiple reports of youths throwing eggs at people, houses and vehicles. At this time of year we are all for having a good time however this should not be at the expense of other people. We have obtained footage of the youths responsible for throwing eggs at a property where a family were sat inside minding their own business and making the assumption they should feel relaxed and safe in their own home.
"We will identify those responsible and once we have identified you we will be dealing with you for criminal damage. You also left the empty egg container in the vicinity which was a supermarket brand, I am sure we will also see you on their CCTV purchasing the items. "Please be mindful if you intend on engaging in this behaviour we live in a society where cameras are everywhere. We urge the people participating in this mindless behaviour to please have consideration for other people that live in our lovely town." Police issued the warning on the eve of Halloween.
